Baru Nuts, Grainless Granola + Resistant Starch
Spring is here, and you know what that means: it’s time to clean out the closet, put away the cozy sweaters, and, oh yeah, update the menu at Impact Kitchen. If you’re eager to get outside now that winter is behind us, we’ve got you covered with these perfect new grab-n-go items.
We’ve combined flavour and functional nutrition to create these new items–and you can grab them at any of our locations!
If the word “baru” has you scratching your head, no worries! This superfood nut comes from Brazil and is loaded with protein, fibre and healthy fats–and lower in calories than the average nut. Not to mention it’s high in antioxidants, containing more than 10x the amount found in macadamia nuts and 4x the amount found in almonds!
That’s why baru nuts account for 20% of each bag of trail mix and are combined with almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, semi-sweet chocolate, and cranberries, for a tasty and antioxidant-rich snack!
Our new lemon collagen pudding is a refreshing dessert that feels like the perfect way to launch us into Spring! It's made from grass-fed, pasture-raised bovine gelatin, fresh lemon juice, coconut milk, honey and turmeric to make for a satiating and anti-inflammatory snack.
Grass-fed gelatin offers up a good amount of protein, as well as some gut- and skin- supportive health benefits. (You can read more about the benefits of gelatin here.)
Our new potato salad is inspired by the classic german-style potato salad: potatoes tossed in a grainy dijon vinaigrette with fresh herbs and garlic–no mayo here! These potatoes are steamed and cooled, which creates what is known as “resistant starch”. Resistant starch is a type of starch that our digestive systems can’t break down, and instead gets used up as fuel by the beneficial bacteria in our gut.
Pair this with the Paleo Chicken Tenders for a satiating snack of protein, fat and fibre!
Last but not least, our granola has gone grain-free! Loaded with a medley of nuts, toasted coconut, cranberries and lightly sweetened with maple syrup, this granola is perfect on its own, or when paired with yogurt and chia jam!
Not only is this granola loaded with plant-based protein, healthy fats and fibre, it’s also rich in vitamins and minerals–some honourable mentions include vitamin E, a potent antioxidant, and phosphorus, a crucial mineral needed for bone health and energy metabolism.
That’s all for now, but stay tuned for even more new menu items launching next month. Until then, we can’t wait for you to start enjoying these nutritious grab-n-go goodies!
